Failure is not something to be worried about if you want to be innovative. In fact, failure needs to be embraced more often and more confidently if you are to pursue innovation. Innovation means ‘new‘ or ‘original‘. History has taught us that the greatest innovation comes about after many failed attempts. If you want to innovate your business then failure needs to become part of your leadership mindset. Your team shouldn’t be penalised for failure, rather they should be rewarded. You don’t need a government grant, an industry expert or a new team to be more innovative. It won’t come from any of those sources. All you need is the courage to fail and fail often. Start failing today and each time you do, pick your team up, observe, tweak, and start again. When you see failure for all it is, you realise that there is a very thin line between failure and innovation. You realise it is not to be feared at all, rather it is to be revered and sought out wherever possible. You realise that it is not something that should be avoided but rather it’s something that needs to happen and happen often.
